OVERVIEW
Tiergesundheit Österreich is an association with members from the fields of agriculture, veterinary medicine, business (dairies and slaughterhouses), and animal health services. The association is recognized in accordance with Section 21 of the Austrian Animal Health Act. The members work together to ensure uniform national standards for measures to improve animal health, animal husbandry and biosecurity in the agricultural livestock sector.

Association for ensuring uniform national standards for measures to improve animal health, animal husbandry and biosecurity in the agricultural livestock sector.
Its responsibilities are prescribed by law and are as follows:
1. Supporting operators in implementing animal health obligations and measures to protect against biological hazard (Art. 10 and 11 AHL).
2. Development of training and continuing education materials and provision of knowledge to operators and members of animal-related professions in the areas of animal diseases, zoonoses, food safety, protection against biological hazards, veterinary drugs, resistance, and the interaction between animal health, animal welfare, and human health.
3. Coordination and support in the implementation of measures for advisory services, disease detection, and epidemic prevention (animal health visits, Art. 25 AHL).
4. Development of nationwide programs for selected diseases.
5. Ensuring uniform standards for measures to improve animal health and biosecurity in the livestock sector.
6. Data network and provision, as well as expanded data management for epidemic prevention.
