As a European federation, FESASS welcomes breeders’ organizations in European countries that wish to become involved in its activities and share its values. There are two ways of joining: full membership and associate membership.

Useful information

Members are directly involved in the definition of FESASS work orientations and priorities, as well as in the elaboration and adoption of its political and technical positions. In this capacity, FESASS acts as an intermediary and representative to European and international institutions.

On a technical and scientific level, FESASS, with the help of experts from its member organizations and partners, is able to provide members with expertise that is useful for their own activities.

Finally, FESASS facilitates exchanges between its members and promotes internal cooperation between its members and with other professional organizations.

The conditions of membership are defined in Article 5 of the FESASS Statutes for full members and associate members.

Only legal entities may be members of FESASS.

To be an effective member, you must

  • Be a national or, in default, regional agricultural professional organisation or association,
  • Have at least one sanitary vocation in the animal sector,
  • Have been duly constituted as a legal entity under the law and practices of a Member State of either the European Union or the European Economic Area (including Switzerland and Norway) and have its registered office in that State,
  • Be representative of the livestock sector in the country or region concerned.

To be an associate member, you must

  • Be a regional, national or international organisation or association with a proven interest in animal health,
  • Have been duly constituted as a legal entity or organisation under the law and practices of a European country and have its registered office in that same country,
  • Contribute through its activity to the objectives of FESASS.

Applications for full or associate membership shall be sent in writing to the attention of the President of FESASS. It must include the reasons for the affiliation with regard to the criteria defined in article 5 of the Articles of Association for full members or associate members. This letter must be accompanied by any evidence of the applicant’s activity (statutes of the association, activity report, etc.).

After receiving the opinion of the Board, the General Assembly decides whether or not to admit a new full or associate member. If the Board gives a favourable opinion, the applicant may be invited to participate as an observer in the work of the federation pending the next meeting of the General Assembly.
