2026 General Assembly: What funding for Animal Health in the coming years?
With the increasing number of health crises caused by the more frequent occurrence of Category A diseases (the most serious), the resources allocated in European and national budgets are being depleted. The outlook for the coming years is even less optimistic. It is therefore imperative to consider ways to address this lack of resources.
Certainly, priority must first be given to prevention. “Prevention is better than cure” is a principle shared by all European animal health stakeholders. However, sufficient resources will also be required to support the development of biosecurity measures and to ensure the availability of vaccines when preventive emergency vaccination becomes necessary to protect livestock in threatened areas.
FESASS has therefore decided to devote the academic part of its General Assembly on March 26, 2026, to this essential issue of funding (see program for download). As the number of places is limited, interested parties are invited to send a message to fesass@fesass.eu.
