Stéphane JEANNE elected President of FESASS

Press release, 17 December 2025

On Wednesday, the Board of the European Federation for Animal Health and Safety (FESASS) elected Stéphane JEANNE as its new President.

Who is Stéphane JEANNE?

He is a dairy farmer specialised in organic production in the Loire Atlantique department (France). Aged 57, he was previously 1st Vice President of FESASS.

Addressing the Board after his election, President Stéphane JEANNE thanked the members for their trust. He expressed his commitment to continuing the work accomplished by his predecessor with the support and participation of each member. For him, teamwork is essential. In this spirit, he stressed that, in the face of contagious diseases, only collective action is effective. It is the soul of FESASS to bring farmers together to act in unison alongside the services of Member States and in partnership with veterinary practitioners.

After 16 and a half years at the head of FESASS, devoted to promoting animal health, Didier DELMOTTE has therefore handed over his mandate. FESASS warmly thanks him for his commitment, the many successes achieved and the progress made during his presidency.

The Board also welcomed four new members: Carl DE BIE (Belgium, ARSIA), Dr Ulrike SORGE (Germany, ADT and TGD Bayern), Dr Simone STEINER (Austria, TGÖ) and Patrick DONOHOE (Ireland, AHI). It also elected Lotte ROOS (Netherlands, Royal GD Deventer) as 1st Vice-President.

This team is ready to take on the particularly difficult challenges that lie ahead, given the many diseases present in the European Union. In this context, the Council emphasised FESASS solidarity with farmers facing serious Category A diseases. It called on European and national authorities to combat these diseases with respect for human dignity.

It is important to remember that the first to suffer alongside their sick animals are the farmers. It is therefore imperative to show the utmost solidarity with them and provide them with all the necessary support.
