Ongoing work on the European proposal for a regulation on animal welfare in transport
FESASS and Hans-Peter Schons, its Vice President Delegated, are paying great attention to the ongoing work of the European Parliament and the Council on the proposed regulation on animal welfare in transport. It asked Belgian MEP Benoît Cassart about his views on this project, and thanks him for his contribution.
FESASS welcomes the progress made in the Council under the Polish Presidency. It strongly encourages the Danish Presidency to continue adapting this text in a constructive spirit in the interests of animal health and welfare, the competitiveness of European livestock farming and the internal market. In particular, after the discussions on limiting transport time, we need to take into account the major climatic differences in transport conditions between Member States.
