FESASS’ General Assembly 2024

The FESASS General Assembly took place on 10 April 2024 in Brussels. The technical theme of the meeting was autovaccines – useful tools for animal health. This theme was brilliantly illustrated by a presentation made by Dr Christian QUINET, Director of the ARSIA Laboratory.

The central theme of the General Assembly was Future water management – animal health and welfare concerns. To address this key issue for the future of livestock farms, we called on three experts: Dr Claudia OLAZABAL, Head of the Fresh Water Unit, DG ENVI of the European Commission, Dr Bernard POTTER, General Administrator of the Flemish Environment Agency, and Mr Tony LEBAS, Expert in water management and specialised technician of the GDS de la Mayenne.

Finally, Dr Chantal RETTIGNER, Head of the Belgian Veterinary Services, and Dr Laszlo KUSTER, Head of Sector at the European Commission’s DG SANTE, gave an update on the EU’s health situation and the work in progress within the Council of Ministers and the Commission.
